Clash Royale: No Lives, Infinite Play
One would think Clash Royale is simply another Supercell / tower defense game. We’ve seen this; we’ve been there, and we’ve done that. Yet, a few tweaks in this game’s operations makes it more addicting (and fun!) than any Supercell game we’ve seen before.
With most mobile most games, the actual app owners make money because the game only offers a limited number of lives or plays. Clash Royale, however, boasts unlimited lives and very little risk for each play. This means each time you decide to go to battle, you go into war with a fresh start.
So what’s the catch?
The only way you can level up s by opening chests, which you can earn when you win games or when you collect enough crowns in one 24 hour period to unlock a crown chest. The chests can be opened right away if you’re willing to give up green gems, or you can start a countdown on the chest (between 3-8 hours) at which 0:00 it will open.
While you can collect up to four chests at a time, only one chest can have its countdown going at a time. This means if you have two chests with eight-hour aging times and two with three-hour aging times all three chests will be matured in 22 hours.
That being said, once your chest queue is full, you can still play free of charge. That’s right. Free of charge. No RL dollars required, no gems required, no in-game gold required. Clash Royale simply allows unlimited play at no cost to the player.
There is a small risk of each battle. Your rank among other Clash Royale players is immediately determined by the number of trophies you have to your name. You earn trophies based on a couple of factors: the total number of won battles you have, and how evenly matched your battles are.
Every time you go into battle, you risk losing, and therefore risk losing trophies. When you’re still in the early levels of the game, however, it seems as though you only lose between 5-10 trophies depending on how bad the lose is. The risk of looking more like a noob when you’re already clearly a noob is one you will have to evaluate for yourself.
Clash Royale’s infinite free play against real opponents jacks the addictive qualities of this supercell game up further than any other supercell we’ve seen yet. How many hours have you put in already?
