Common Card: Elite Barbarians
Balancing cards in the world of Clash Royale is a must to survive. No game can be won with pure offense or pure defense, unless of course the opponent gets disconnected. The need to have a fixed play in pushing and defending is crucial. What if you have both in one card? Being Bigger, Faster, Stronger, and Better than their predecessors, the Elite Barbarians are not the duo to mess with.
The Mechanics of the Elite Barbarians
These barbarians are named elite as they have much higher stat points compared to the regular ones. First, let’s talk about speed. The Elite Barbarians are much faster, enabling them to reach the crown towers quickly. This is a big difference as the common counter-attacks to barbarians don’t work. The infamous fireball that gets the health points of the barbarians to a sliver of health does not apply now. The Elite Barbarians can withstand it, including the Lightning Spell.
When it comes to kiting, the pull differs. Due to their improved speed, a lot of changes are seen. Another card that is similar to it is the Lumberjack. Although this time, being a mere common card, it mimics the same running speed of the Lumberjack. Compared to a lone Lumberjack being pulled into the center, Elite Barbarians can be more effective.
However, their striking speed or attack speed is still the same as the barbarians. If the barbarians can be bullied by the mega minion, due to the Elite Barbarian’s faster movement speed, they can push through with ease. Talking more about speed, the barbarians can be taken down by a lone Ice Wizard. The Elite Barbarians on the other hand can kill the Ice Wizard despite the Frost Nova attack. The Wizard can snipe barbarians and walk out untouched. Faced with Elite Barbarians, the Wizard can be killed due to the faster pace.
Going back to the fireball, their damage is similar. With an attack total of three barbarians, they somewhat deal damage as if you are throwing fireballs at the enemy crown tower. Deploy them alone and they can take out a crown tower easily. These pair of warriors should definitely NOT be ignored.
When defending is what concerns you, the Elite Barbarians can be effective. They can take out a Giant or a Royal Giant easily without having it reach your tower. Same with the regular barbarians, they can take out Sparky relatively well as long as you split them in two.
With PROs, there are also CONs that come along. The Elite Barbarians are less effective than the barbarians in defending from a Hog Rider. Since they are only two, they cannot make a wall to block out the Hog Rider for a bit unlike with the barbarians. As it costs 6 elixir, sending a rocket to counter it is a fair trade especially if there is no other good cards to defend.
With the single-target attack, the Elite Barbarians are weak with mobs of units. A Skeleton Army can annihilate a pair of Elite Barbarians. Of course if Zap is not used to wipe them out. Although they are very fast, they do attack as regular barbarians. This makes the tombstone a great counter attack against them. Regular barbarians have a higher total of overall health points and hit points making them effective against Elite Barbarians.
If timed well, a pair of archers can take down a pair of Elite Barbarians. This happens with the help of the crown towers though, as players need to pull them into the middle for perfect execution. The Musketeer also does a good job against the Elite Barbarians with a slight difference in elixir than the archers. The bowler is an awesome unit to defend against Elite Barbarians because of the push-back effect it does.
Mentioned earlier that the Mega Minion cannot stop them from reaching the crown towers, the Minion Horde is more effective. As long as there are no arrows or other spells involved, they are a great defense against the duo.
THE VERDICT: There are a lot of things to take in consideration. Having a revamped stat points compared to the regular barbarians, the Elite Barbarians are a real threat. Moving fast and working as both offensive and defensive, they are not that easy to take down. These warriors are versatile. Working hard for players to win battles… the Elite Barbarians are truly worth keeping.
