Heal Spell: Strategy, Tips and Defense
Heal is a new spell as of April 28th 2017 that seeks to change up the strategy in Clash Royale. The unique spell is poised to undoubtedly shake up some common plays and change the game a bit at top tiers. Never before has there been a way to revive an injured unit or extend a little bit of life into a tank such as P.E.K.K.A.

Heal lasts only a few seconds, slowly bringing life back to wounded units. At the lowest level, Heal doesn’t drastically extend lifespan but when upgraded it can heal over 750 hit points. This means it can drastically extend the life of a tank. As a new spell, it very well may drastically change some popular decks. There are some caveats to using heal though!
Unfortunately Heal does not bring units back from the dead, so if a Unit dies while in the AoE, that unit is still dead. Or poofed away as they do in Clash. This means that strong spells like zap or Fireball can completely negate the heal spell BUT after such an attack, if a Unit does survive, a heal spell could bring an injured unit back to combat readiness. This is invaluable when a card like Zap or Heal wrecks a huge push and would cause a large loss of elixir.
Also note that heal does not work on buildings though. Sadly that requires a construction crew to fix.
The duration and radius of heal is similar to the Freeze spell, so veteran users of freeze may find the transition to this new spell quite natural. While heal quite new, some strategies are already being developed on how to use it.
Tips for Heal
Heal not only extends the life of a unit but has the added benefit of being useful to stop a push. Since the Spell can help a tank such as Giant or P.E.K.K.A. survive a bit longer, it is great for stopping an opponents rush just a little longer.
Heal or High Water
Ah, balloons, the nefarious creators of the sky. Often balloons are mere seconds away from a first, second, or even THIRD hit to a crown tower. While the bomb they leave is nice, it isn’t necessarily the strongest thing. A hit from a balloon though is devastating to a building. Heal spell has a really nice trait in that it can be placed in the path of a balloon and extend the life of the dread balloon for a few precious seconds. Often, a balloon is just about to strike when it is killed by a unit such as minions or baby dragon. With Heal, you can now squeeze out one or two more hits from a balloon. The sheer power of the balloon makes this a very powerful trade off. In fact, many games have been lost because of that tiny last moment balloon death. Heal may stop some of that.
Some longer-range units like the Princess and Musketeer are great at attacking but often destroyed by weak units. A strategically placed heal spell can ward off the attacks of lower powered units and extend the life of your ranged units a bit longer. Since they are awesome from a distance, Heal may allow them to push back units too that traditional were impossible to kill. For instance try placing heal on the Princess as she approaches the enemy lane to get a little more mileage out of her powerful attack.
Another great use of heal is with heavy hitters such the Skeleton Giant. Since his bomb is very powerful, a well placed heal can extend his life long enough to make it past whatever the opponent is using for defense. Often a skeleton army will stop the Giant Skeleton just short of victory. Heal can help alleviate that damage and insure a push is effective. The same goes for Mini P.E.K.K.A. who is often destroyed moments before thrashing a tower.
Defense against Heal
Heal doesn’t heal as much damage as it’s rival, poison. One strategy to counter heal is to put poison on top of it! While it’s a bit dark to hurt people who are just trying to recover, poison is one of the best ways to counter the Heal Spell.
The Future is Heal!
Since Heal was recently released, new strategies are being created every day. Some of the more ingenious ones will undoubtedly change the way Clash is played and even change up decks for some people. Cards like P.E.K.K.A. and Golem may be a lot more effective now that they can cross the distance!
Still, it’s from every day players that we will see Heal change the status quo of Clash. If you have a KILLER strategy with heal, share it in the comments below! And as always share this message and smash that like button so we can continue to bring you great content on Clash Royale!
See you in the arena!
