Rare Card: Mega Minion
Rare cards are always a thing to look forward to in the world of Clash Royale. Another card that adds up to the collection is the Mega Minion. With the mechanics of the regular minions known by the entire population of Clash Royale, players might think this is another hasty yet bigger critter. That of which is partly true. As the minions lack health, the mega minion is sturdier. It has the health points of that of the Witch, Barbarians, Musketeer, and the Wizard.
With that being said, it can survive a Fireball with a sliver of health. Compared to the regular ones that get toasted right away. No wonder those creepy flying creatures have armor!
The Mechanics of the Mega Minion
Regarding the speed, the Mega Minion has a medium move speed same as the cards mentioned earlier. Like the minions, it also deals single-target yet high damage against anything on it’s path. The range of the Mega Minion is short, making it vulnerable to ranged attacks. A poison spell or a freeze can be a good defense against an incoming army plus the Mega Minion. Pushing alone, it can be taken down easily by the Inferno Tower. If a level 3 Fireball is thrown at a Level 1 Mega Minion, it can kill it in one shot!
Ground attacks are prominent in the world of Clash Royale, which makes the Mega Minion a crucial part on defense. With it’s full-plated armor, it can withstand most ground attacks. This gives players the bang for their elixir. Another effective defensive purpose is to use this ferocious beast against an incoming Balloon as it cannot handle air attacks. However, it would be poor to use it against mobs of monsters such as the skeleton army since it does not deal splash damage.
Offense plays a heavy role in the game, but if players rely solely on the Mega Minion, there is not much that can be done. A Mega Minion can reach an enemy crown tower but cannot do that much damage. This is due to the fact that there are a lot of cards that can counter it, like the Musketeer. It would be best to utilize the card for defensive purposes. If a minion horde is approaching, the Mega Minion can be used to lure the regular minions on to the Middle, thus preventing them from reaching the crown towers.
There is an exception to its seemingly unworthy offensive-card label. If players place a tank like a Giant or a Lava Hound, the Mega Minion can be effective. Though the results can vary with the kind of defensive cards to be used to counter attack. If an Inferno Tower is used then it can easily toast the both. Other mob cards that can attack air troops can also render such a combo useless. Nevertheless, with perfect execution, the combo can be successful if the opponent has not that much anti-air counter attack cards on hand.
Is the Mega Minion worth keeping?
This creepy rare card deals ground and air attacks and hits every 1.4 seconds. Although the speed is described as Medium, the Mega Minion is fairly slower than the regular minions due to its armor. With a cost of 3 elixir, it is rarely used in the game. Players can get more value on cards that can turn tables such as the Minion Horde.
Much negativity has been linked with this card but with regards to card levels, there is a plausible answer. The level 1 Mega Minion has 395 hit points and increases on every level. A maxed out Mega Minion (Level 11) has heavy hit points of 1,011! That of which is a big difference compared to low level ones making it much valuable for those who can reach such.
The Verdict: If you a lot of Mega Minion cards and overflowing of gold, then this card can bring you joy. The card can be unlocked when players reach the Royal Arena or Arena 7 in Clash Royale. Versatility in using the card as defense and as tanking purposes can be seen when at such arena. However, for those free-to-play gamers, it is far from recommended. It is highly recommended to spend gold on other cards such as the Minion Horde instead.
