The Icey Pig Deck Strategy: Hog Rider + Freeze Spell
Famous modular strategy series, where a 2 cards combination create a POWERFUL combo that can be added into an existing Deck.
Used from Arena 4 and beyond, it’s one of the most used deck combinations. And now the deck you used regularly is getting absolutely thrashed. Fear not, it’s not too complex to get back on the Hog and ride to victory.
Arena 5 is a stumbling block for many players. Rushing the opponent with a horde of low-level goblins and skeletons is no longer putting fear into your opponent, instead it results in quick push and an easy demise.
This is when you need to start thinking a bit more strategically and plan decks that will help you be successful but diverse enough to counter the more complex attacks coming your way.
This guide will help you combo two cards together in an effective way, and teach you a strategy that helps compliment a deck. Put these Modules together and you could have an amazing winning strategy!
For the Icey Pig deck, you will need 2 Cards:
The Hog-Rider is a terrifying character that shows up occasionally, rocking a beard and riding a pig. He runs into battle, rushing toward a tower, and can easily start tearing apart the opponent. He only attacks buildings though, as such a swarm is the best counter to him. He is pretty easy to counter without the Freeze Spell as he cannot attack anyone else! Another counter to watch out for is the building counter. Hog hates buildings and will chase any he sees.
Freeze is an AoE spell that literally freezes everything in the area of the spell. It lasts 4 seconds at level 1 and a full 6 seconds at level 10. The Freeze Spell can be used defensively when enemies are overwhelming your lane, or offensively to give extra time for your army to fight and kill.
The Icey Pig
This combo is a classic 1-2 Punch that decimates an opponent’s tower (Maybe even getting an extra 4 seconds of pure damage on a tower)!
Save up the Elixir for the Hog Rider and Freeze, and then unleash the Hog upon a tower. Depending on the opponents move, he may summon new troops or attempt to swarm the Hog. This is where strategic use of the Freeze spell can give you quite a bit more time for the Hog to be murdering the building. (Even at Level 1, this is 400 extra damage before the Hog-Rider poofs away). A couple of these in a round and you can easily overwhelm an opponent and put them on the defensive.
Also consider deploying this on a weakened tower if the match is in overtime, for a quick victory!
Counters to the Icey Pig
A building used to deflect Hog-Rider or a swarm so large Freeze doesn’t cover them all, are both effective ways to counter this. A good compliment to have is Arrows, as those can kill the swarms as they are frozen, and save the Hog-Rider!
Just a little piece
That’s just one tool in the deck that you can master and use to improve you game! Arena 5 is hard but it’s where learning and strategy will set you apart. Send some Icey Pig towards the enemy, victory is a dish best served cold!
